Chapter Achievement Awards

Each award is $1,000

Requirements
 - Chapters may only submit a COMPLETED project for the award.  Projects in the assessment or design phase are ineligible
 - A chapter representative must be present at the Conference to receive the award.  Please do not submit an application unless someone from your chapter will be at the Conference

Student Categories:  Awards will be given to six student chapters, one for each of the following categories:

·        Humanitarian for International Projects

·        Humanitarian for Domestic Projects

·        Education

·        Appropriate Technology

·        Collaborative Efforts

·        Sustainable Legacy

 Professional Categories: Awards will be given to six professional chapters, one for each of the following categories:

·        Humanitarian for International Projects

·        Humanitarian for Domestic Projects

·        Education

·        Appropriate Technology

·        Collaborative Efforts

·        Sustainable Legacy

Pre-College Chapter Achievement Award: pre-selected, no  submission required
 
Submissions: Submit the following information by February 10, 2008 to Cathy Leslie.             

  • A minimum of (4) high quality power point slides with the following information:
    • The community and country of your project including domestic.
    • A one paragraph description of your project.
    • The name, email address, and area of responsibility for each team member, including members who did not travel.
    • The dates of travel past, present and future
  • 3-5 of the best photos (1200 x 1600 resolution preferred, although total e-mail size cannot exceed 7MB)
  • Narrative

Narrative: Please describe the Chapter’s 2007 activity(ies) by answering all of the mandatory questions and 6 of the optional questions in written narrative format (please do not exceed 4 pages (12 point) with your answers):

Mandatory questions (answer all):

  1. Please describe in detail the solution you implemented to address the community problem.
  2. How did you measure the “tangible” results from your project (i.e. improved water quality)?
  3. How much did your project cost? 
  4. What were the 2 most important lessons learned?
  5. What plans does your chapter have to work with this community over the next two years?  How are you maintaining communication to ensure the success of past implementations and develop future projects?  What, if anything, would you change or improve about the relationship between your chapter and the community?
  6. If Student: Please describe the relationship between your chapter and your professional mentor(s).  What, if anything, would you do to change or improve this relationship?
  7. How did this project make the community more self-sustaining?
  8. How did this project improve the economic health of the community?

Optional Questions (answer 6):

  1. How were priorities set and were they met?
  2. What experiences took place in unique cultural and social situations? Give a short story.
  3. What were your best practices in leadership and collaboration?
  4. What were the new technical innovations in the implementation of this project?
  5. How did your team address environmental issues in developing a solution to the community problem?
  6. What were the benchmarks for quality control?
  7. What is unique about your Chapter?
  8. What created the most fun for the Chapter?
  9. How did your Chapter integrate your membership into the process?
  10. How has your university, institution or company supported your work?

Award Presentation:  Awards will be presented at the EWB-USA Annual International Conference on March 28, 2008.
