INFORMATION FOR NGO'S AND COMMUNITIES
EWB-USA is dedicated to helping communities with their engineering needs. Our primary projects involve clean drinking water, sanitation, energy, water supply, schools, bridges, health clinics, agriculture and much more. EWB-USA is not a funding agency. We provide engineering services to communities in need, although we will often help with material costs.
If your community needs help from an engineer in some way, and you would like EWB-USA to help with this project, then we recommend reading through our information on submitting a new project to EWB-USA. You'll be asked to answer questions on a project application (also available in Spanish), and that application will be reviewed by a committee who will decide if the project is appropriate for EWB-USA.
We want to make sure that that you as the community are participating in the project as well. Therefore, we ask that communities provide some sort of support for the the requested project. This can take many forms, from providing money for a certain percentage of the project, to providing labor, housing for volunteers or materials for the project. Each project is different, and exact support can be determined with your chapter.
Once your project is accepted by EWB-USA, it is posted on the website as an "Open" project so that a chapter can adopt it. Once it is adopted, your chapter will contact you and begin discussions with you about what is needed.
EWB-USA provides long-term support for communities and regions. We will continue to return to help your community and surrounding communities with additional concerns each year. This also allows us to check on previous projects to make sure they are functioning as they should.
