FAQs Rotary-EWB Collaboration
Can we see a list of EWB projects so we can choose which one to help?
You can sort projects by country or project type by clicking here.
What role will Rotary play versus EWB?
US Rotary clubs typically limit their role to funding although Rotarians may want to travel to the site (usually at their own cost).
Host Rotary Clubs often help with local logistics, transportation and housing as well as help EWB get the lay of the land. They can also help identify potential projects as many of these clubs have been involved in water and other humanitarian projects in the area. Once the relationships are established, these clubs can become long-term partners.
How do I find a EWB Chapter to make a presentation?
The Rotary Coordinator rotary@ewb-usa.org can help you identify clubs and contact information. Or you may look for a chapter in your area.
Suppose our club wants to sponsor an EWB project. What is the Rotary process for providing funding?
There are essentially three ways Rotary can help with funding. 1) A club (or several clubs) could provide local club funds to the project. This is the simplest process. 2) A club could also apply for a Rotary District simplified grant for the project. 3) A club could also become the lead club in asking the Rotary District to apply for a matching grant from The Rotary Foundation. In this case TRF matches other Rotary funds that have been committed to the project. See the Rotary Funding Process.
I would like to visit the EWB project our club is helping to fund. Can I use Rotary funds for travel?
Local Rotary clubs can help EWB members with travel if they choose. Rotary District funds and Rotary matching grants cannot be used for travel, either by Rotarians or by EWB members. If the Rotarian has unique skills needed for the project, travel funds for Rotarians are available from Volunteer Service Grants. |
