CHAPTERS STARTING AN EWB-USA PROJECT
EWB-USA has a process for starting projects. First, only established chapters (this means the chapter has a signed chapter agreement with EWB-USA) can work on an EWB-USA project. If you are an individual or new to EWB-USA, then it is recommended that you take a look at the webpage "Joining a Project" first. If you are interested in starting a chapter, please contact the EWB-USA Chapters Coordinator.
Chapters that want to start an EWB-USA Project
(Note: Chapters should read section 5 of the EWB-USA soucebook BEFORE starting on a project)
1) Open Projects: These are projects that were submitted by an NGO or community and have already been reviewed and approved as EWB-USA projects. If a project interests your chapter after reviewing the open project applications and reviews, fill out a 502 - Chapter Application and submit it to the EWB-USA Project Manager by the due date specified on the open project page.
2) Chapter Submits a Project: Chapters can develop their own projects to EWB-USA. For more information on this process see Submitting a New Project.
3) Research Projects: Research Projects are a way for chapters to help to find solutions to some of the pressing issues facing communities, and are another way for your chapter's membership to be involved with helping communities around the world. They can also be good ideas for senior design projects.
4) Partnering Projects: Endeavors where an EWB-USA chapter is doing something in partnership with another entity such as Habitat for Humanity. The 500 - Partnering Projects Information Form is to be completed for these volunteer projects so that we can report these efforts to our funders as well as determine in what projects our chapters are participating.
The EWB-USA Project Manager works in the EWB-USA office to support the work of the TAC, pre-screens chapter & project applications forms, and prepares materials for TAC meetings. Contact Projects for assistance with acquiring a project. |
