Celebrating Natalie Celmo: Stepping Into Leadership for Community Engineering Corps, EWB-USA's Domestic Program
Engineers Without Borders USA is proud to celebrate Natalie Celmo, PE, as she steps into her new role as Director of Community Engineering Corps, EWB-USA’s Domestic Program.
For Natalie, this role is not just a professional milestone. It represents the culmination of years of commitment, learning, and partnership with communities across the United States.
Natalie joined EWB-USA in 2020 as a Program Engineer, but her relationship with the organization began long before that. Fifteen years ago, she attended her first EWB chapter meeting as a volunteer, an experience that, in her words, opened her eyes to “the impact that engineering with empathy can have on the world.” Since then, her dedication to EWB-USA’s mission has only deepened.
Over the past six years, Natalie has played a central role in shaping EWB-USA’s domestic technical assistance work, building deep relationships with communities, volunteers, and partners nationwide. Her leadership has helped guide projects addressing water access, infrastructure resilience, and environmental justice, while navigating periods of significant change across the sector. These experiences reinforced her belief that EWB-USA’s domestic work is deeply interconnected with the organization’s global mission and strengthens impact across all programs.
At the heart of Natalie’s work is a belief that engineering is most powerful when it is community-driven and rooted in empathy. “This role brings together my engineering background, my commitment to community-driven impact, and my passion for leading and supporting a team,” Natalie shared. “I care deeply about EWB-USA and am motivated by the opportunity to steward this work into its next chapter.”
We are grateful for Natalie’s leadership, institutional knowledge, and unwavering dedication, and we look forward to the continued growth and impact of EWB-USA’s domestic work under her direction.
